Though I was not in the Army, I flew with them, and provided expertise for the pilots to operate the "Air Force" way (Paperwork=MGTOW+Brick=Flight) It is correct to state that aviation is apart from the mundane ground pounder's concerns. Pilots should not be distracted by duties such as those described by "Aviator X". Command grooming should include cockpit experience, and most commanders are rated, as they should be. Some pilots do not want to fly: Rather, they desire a leadership role. This is a common situation in the Air Force, but apparently not in the Army. The "Old Fart" is probably in the ideal position to recognize the needed improvements in Army Aviation which would optimize the field in these changing times. The Air Force, though very cliquish, did have an effective Suggestion Program which produced some surprising improvements in the aviation realm, as well as in other disciplines. Perhaps the Army would do well to establish this type of feedback system so aviators and others could phone in their good ideas.
