Guys, giving us all berets is supposed to improve our morale. Well, due to GEN Shenseki's manning policy, the morale in my unit is dropping, and I don't think giving me a new piece of headgear is going to improve it.
As you all know, the current army mantra is "man the divisions," even if you have to drain the support tail. So here at the school house at beautiful Fort Gordon, we have been losing instructors, but not having them replaced. But recruiting command, armed with large bonuses, are bringing in more people to train.
The consequences: At today's staff meeting today, we were informed that we will be going to 3 shifts starting in January to handle all of the new students (who incidentally, are stacked up like cordwood due to a shortage of barracks space). We were also told that unless we get an influx of instructors, expect no leaves or passes for the next calendar year.
Right now, morale is pretty low, and I don't think a change of headgear is going to improve it. Best, SSG K
