As far as I could tell, Mr. Baker, in re-examining my own writing, I in no way "glossed over" the systemic problems that the Army has. Once again, it seems that you have the same disorder that everyone else has. You imply that because I support the beret decision, I must be blindly overlooking the multitude of problems we have. How you (and the press) are making that mental leap is beyond me.

You addressed a number of points, (my being and Aviator among others) that had absolutely nothing to do with the beret issue. Your reply, while filled with numerous impressive phrases, elegant verbage, and vague references to other problems in the Army, failed to address my original point, which had to do with the black beret.

If you would like me to address equal opportunity, private job market, my opinion of my job, and why you don't know squat about aviators and the commercial aviation market, I would be happy to address that in a subsiquent post. For now, I will stick to my original issue, which is the black beret.

Now, if you have an opinion on this matter (which I'm sure you do), please post it as I would be interested in hearing your opinion. Please, however, don't talk around the central issue or you'll begin to sound like some of the senior officers who are causing all our problems.
