In the end, the people who enlist must do so of their own accord. It's their responsibility to research and make their own decision. They may indeed regret it, but it wouldn't be the first time an 18-year old did something he or she wish they hadn't done. Of all the "poor" decisions that could be made at 18 or 19 years, certainly military service is better than crime, prison, or some other job where they end up being over worked, under paid, and under appreciated (civilians have jobs like that too).
