Excellence in what you do is also being represented by the Thudnerbirds, Golden Knights, Blue Angels, etc. If you are the linen control NCO, then do the job right and don't half step. Military life is life, and life ain't always fair. Acceptance and reaction to that reality, when it rears it's ugly head, is what sets you apart from others making alternate decisions (read-bad choices).Understand as well that ,to many, these 'Prima Donna' groups represent the silent professionals that toil daily with the strife an plain 'ole inequity that military service brings today. Don't worry about the disillusioned, they leave, just like you did. It's interesting to note that, in the midst of many a conversation about how the youth of today are not being attracted to military, you would imply that the Thunderbirds suck in so many of the unsuspecting. Which is it? Is the military overloaded with these folks? Can't have it both ways, I'm afraid. The real problem seems to be establishment and maintenance of this degree of excellence throughout the military.

Those truly serious about thrashing F-16s about the sky one day, will take that vision, make a plan, and execute. Attention is better spent on what prevents those who succeed in that dream from remaining in military service afterward.
