She limped noticably onto the stage, her face grimaced in response to each movement. I felt so sorry for her; her injury being a permanent reminder of her auto crash 22 years ago. She was scheduled to see a doctor, though, which usually resulted in a temporary secession of her pain. She was our lead singer, and the daughter of a retired colonel. My sympathies have been extended toward many of these women, who all seem to qualify for "Handicapped" parking stickers, disability claims, and government promotion priority. One women I worked with actually qualified to have our commander's new 17" monitor given to her; a result of her claiming her eyesight was failing due to the smaller monitor. (This, of course, did not prevent her from driving to work, and easily locating those "handicapped" parking spaces her retired military husband qualified for). Another woman I worked with quit the FAA, and came into DoD. (Her squawk was a bad back.) Special chairs were ordered, and her work schedule magically fit her social itinerary, when her "peak" pain hours were experienced. I think colonels have a pretty good bead on how to milk the system, and they teach their offspring these methods.
